British American Tobacco acquires Twisp - leading vaping company in RSA
We have already written about the fact that Altria Group bought part of the Avail Vapor business. The tobacco industry "investment" in the vaping industry continues. British American Tobacco also decided to pamper itself before the New Year having acquired Twisp — the largest vaping company in South Africa.
Since 2008, the company has been manufacturing devices, liquids and accessories from Cape Town. They own a network of shops throughout the country (today there are 66 of them).
The world's second largest cigarette dealers.

The deal with the South African company is one more step for the tobacco industry in the policy of promoting "new generation products". The most popular of them are BAT Glo and the Vype product line.
This acquisition will contribute towards BAT's growth and sustainability and will enhance our contribution to the country's current and future economic growth. We are excited about acquiring a leading vapour brand in RSA because it is familiar with domestic market more than anyone else. It is the best way to expand the "next-generation products" business and offer consumers a choice of "compelling and innovative" alternatives to smoking.

The deal value is still undisclosed. Apparently they wait for the approval of competition authorities. The expected deadline for the deal is mid-2018. However the BAT shares have already grown by 2.39%.

World tobacco companies have tackled vaping industry for quite some time now. Today such big deals are not surprising. BAT has already acquired the English Ten Motives as well as CHIC, which holds about 70% of the Polish vape market.

Whether it’s good or bad is a rhetorical question. But it’s quite interesting to track the process anyway.
